Our Assignment Essentials

Let’s kick this off on a funny note. That right there is us before we understood the whole point of an assignment box holding ALL our essentials. Why? I invite you to keep reading!

Heading out on assignment for a few weeks or a few months takes a bit of organizing. I don’t know about you, but over time we put together an assignment box! Why? Simple, we’re way more efficient when it’s time to head off on an adventure, and it keeps us from forgetting things or buying them double, even triple, once we’re on site.

The lodgings in remote regions are all fully equipped and functional. Want to learn more about lodging in the regions? Click here. Even though everything is provided and we really can’t complain, there are still the essentials you shouldn’t overlook.

So here’s what we put in our box

  • Our Nespresso coffee machine + our milk frother. Because those two are inseparable.

  • Our favourite spices for cooking (cumin, garlic and onion powder, turmeric, tamari, hot peppers, sriracha, etc.)

  • A wine bottle opener. We got caught once and realized that the trick where you take a shoe and bang it really hard against the wall… not easy. Plus we’re not fans of chunks of cork at the bottom of the glass. A little cork surprise in our sips, that’s a hard no.

  • Aymeric’s pillow! I swear it’s as important for my sleep as it is for his ;)

  • Our Wise by Nature smoothies. If you don’t know the product yet, hurry over to their website, because you won’t be able to live without it, trust me. Pssst! We’ve got a pretty sweet promo code for the whole Nomade family.

  • A candle! Because it’s so nice when the whole place smells like eucalyptus, anywhere in Québec. My favourite scent is forest, and you?

  • A knife that actually cuts. The lodgings generally have good knives, but if you’re picky like we are, you’ll thank us later.

  • Tupperware. A MUST, because otherwise your leftovers, well, you don’t know what to do with them, and it’s really lame to overeat at every meal…

  • Gus. You must be wondering what a Gus is? Well, it’s pretty simple, it’s our dog Enzo’s stuffed toy. And I’m telling you, don’t you dare forget it, because without it our poor Enzo is completely lost. Big baby…

Obviously, these are OUR essentials! Between you and me, any must-have can be added to this list. I even invite you to tell me in the comments what YOUR own essential is. And that’s honestly just out of misplaced curiosity. You might just create some new needs for me…
