Lodging in Every Corner of Québec

Lodging in Every Corner of Québec

The question about lodging comes up really often, and that’s fair, we get it. Not so long ago, it was new and unknown for us too. Through this little piece, we’re convinced we’ll have worked through a good chunk of your questions.

What’s good to know about the lodging is that it’s provided and, above all, that it’s free. On top of that, the beauty of it is that we take care of everything: doing the search to find you a place that meets your needs, and booking it.

Solo or shared

Something else worth knowing is that for your lodging, you’ll have the option of being on your own or sharing with passionate people. We’ll add a small caveat to that, because apart from high season, for example, summer in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, it’s almost always possible to have a place to yourself. Why can it be hard to have your own place during high season? Simply because there are more tourists, so fewer lodgings available.

Lodging options

Several lodging options are offered to you, depending on availability, the time of year and the region. Whether it’s a house, an inn with a shared kitchen and/or a motel with a kitchenette. In every case, your comfort will be our priority. It’s important to mention that if you choose an assignment up North, you’ll be housed in an inn with a shared kitchen, because there aren’t any other options. That said, Aymeric and I have had exactly that as our lodging during an assignment up North, and we had a microwave, a television, a coffee maker and a mini-fridge in the room. The bathroom is private too, don’t worry. It’s a bit like having a hotel room, but with a shared kitchen.

Everything is provided

When we say everything is provided, we even mean the bedding, the bath towels, the utensils, all the basic items you need to cook, a television, a washer and dryer, except in hotels or inns. It depends on the region, and if that’s your case, we can talk about it more.

Distance from the health centre

For the distance between your lodging and your workplace, we arrange things so it’s a pleasant 5 to 15 minutes away by car. No car? No problem. There are lodgings you can easily reach on foot. Everything we’re saying holds true, except if you find your own place. Yes, yes, it’s entirely possible to do your own search to find your lodging, since an amount is allocated for that. If you’d rather not rack your brain, we take care of it, and that’s just fine. That’s what we do 90% of the time. We just think it’s good for you to know this option exists too.

Partner/spouse/family

We often get the question of whether it’s possible to head out on assignment with your boyfriend or girlfriend or partner. The answer is yes, 100%. You can even decide to go on assignment with your dad or your mom if you want. The only thing is that we need to know from the very start. There may be an extra charge for the additional person, but we discuss that when we get there, because it’s case by case. Wondering if you can have visitors during your assignment in the region? YES, you just have to let us know so we can ask the lodging owner for permission. Simple as that.

Pets

Now, we see you coming: can we bring our pet on assignment? Well, yes, it’s possible. Realistically, during high season in certain regions, it can be trickier, but we love a challenge, so don’t hesitate at all!

We’ve said a lot of things, but what you absolutely have to remember is that lodging on assignment is for better and for worse. Just as you can end up in a sick house right by the water where you could live with your whole family, you can also end up in a bachelor apartment cooking your tomato-sauce pasta a metre from your bed. Either way, it’s the ADVENTURE. At the end of the day, what matters to us is that you’re doing well. IF EVER you arrive at your lodging and it makes no sense at all, you contact us and we’ll sort it out. There are no problems, only solutions!

A friendly tip

Oh, and a friendly tip: don’t be shy about bringing your must-haves. We can’t do without our Nespresso coffee machine and our tupperware, among other things. Discover all our assignment essentials right here.
