Bye-bye 2022

Bye-bye 2022

2022 is drawing to a close!

I love this time of year, when we take the time to look back and see the road travelled over the past 12 months. Here’s our recap of the year!!

Winter in the tiny house - January 2022

We decided to settle down in the Baie des Chaleurs for the winter of 2022. I drastically cut back my availability at the hospital to focus more and more on the Agence Nomade. We did an enormous amount of work in the fall of 2021, and now we have to take care of the Familia at all times, which means I need to be at the Nomad office. We take the chance to make the most of the Gaspesian winter. Backcountry at Mont St-Joseph, cross-country skiing in the Arpents-Verts park (ahhhh it’s cold in the Gaspésie in winter, we nearly lost our hands a few times!!!). We soak up our new surroundings, the slow morning coffees with a view from our place. We even managed to lure our friends along to enjoy the pleasures of the Gaspésie with us!!

A new member of the family - March 2022

After our ski trip to the Alps got cancelled because of Covid, we decided to head to Western Canada to meet up with Émilie’s aunt for 2 weeks. Don’t ask us how, but we stumbled on an ad for a puppy for sale, in Calgary, on Kijiji. I’d been dreaming of getting an Irish Setter and we found a Golden Retriever X Irish Setter mix. One FaceTime later, our deposit was down. We were going to be 3 in the family come early March. What a joy and what a ball of love our little Enzo is, our four-legged Nomad.

Nomad wedding - May 2022

We had the chance to attend Claudia & Yorick’s wedding with friends. It was a perfect and truly special day, we’ll remember it our whole lives, that’s for sure!!

A getaway to the Islands - August 2022

3 wonderful weeks on the Islands with the Nomads at home & the amigos from the Patton campground (the real ones know). Once again, we got to take the time to meet the Nomads on the Islands and we’re very lucky to have been able to spend time with you. It’s always as if we already know you without ever having seen each other in person before!! The Islands are beautiful and fun in all 4 seasons. That said, there’s not much that beats an afternoon at the beach getting grilled (or whipped by the wind) & a sunset atop a hill with a little vino and some oysters (when we don’t forget them at home).

A getaway to the Havre - September 2022

After talking about it for so long, we finally made it over to Havre-St-Pierre. Émilie worked 2 weeks in the ER and loved it! The scenery is magical, a lovely little village just the way we like them!!

The first Nomad trip - November 2022

We decided a bit last minute on a group trip. Without overthinking it, all-inclusive was the best option. There were nearly 20 of us in Punta Cana. A fantastic group, some already knew each other, others didn’t. We laughed a ton early in the morning and late at night. We’re already looking into the 2023 edition, by the way!!

My first 100 km run

Through our very (too) busy weeks, I put a lot of time into training for running. It’s a sport I love for its simplicity and everything it gives me. It lets me get my ideas in order, spend time outside and push myself. I called on a friend to coach me at the end of 2021 to properly organize my training weeks around my goals. I managed to complete my first 100 km in June in Percé, then a 125 km in Charlevoix in September. My 2023 racing calendar is pretty much set, I have 3 great adventures on the program, including one abroad. Time to train!

We could keep going and list tons and tons of unforgettable events and moments from this year.

I feel like this is what we do with our lives: enjoy life!

We give ourselves the chance to discover Québec’s beautiful regions with total freedom over our schedule. Along the way, we make unforgettable connections with Nomads who, like us, want nothing more than to live a life of adventure. We’re lucky to be lucky enough to have you in the great big Nomad Family. Can’t wait to see what the next year has in store for us!

In any case, you’ll be able to find us in the 4 corners of Québec, if not the 4 corners of the world!
