4 years for the Agence Nomade !!!
January 11, 2019, I set foot on the Îles de la Madeleine for the very first time.
Without knowing it, in that moment, I was setting foot on my spot, my “X”. It’s no coincidence that it’s our favourite region and the one we devote the most time to. It’s a special place in all 4 seasons. I couldn’t believe that I was, along with a handful of other people, the only one living this kind of adventure thanks to my job as a nurse. Taking a plane to get to work, enjoying a seaside sunset on my lunch break, getting to know a place I barely knew before I left, and meeting wonderful people at my workplace.
There’s no denying it, there’s something special about the Islands. You have to see it, yes, but you have to live it to believe it. Seeing that I was catching people’s eye with what I was doing, I decided to start the Agence Nomade. A way to let people, in turn, experience what I was living out in a remote region thanks to my job.
Simple, right?! You register with the enterprise registrar, you register for taxes, sign a contract with the hospital and off you go…
If only it were just that! 4 years later (hard to believe it’s already been 4 years), we’ve literally created a monster (a very beautiful monster, don’t worry). I finally understood, over the past year, that doing everything on my own and dragging Émilie into endless days and weekends of work wasn’t sustainable in the long run. We made one heck of a team, but by doing nothing but that, we had to face the fact that we were heading straight for a wall.
So I decided to surround myself, along with Émilie, with Jennifer, Éloïse, Vickie & Camille so we’d be able to support the Nomads day after day on their adventure and bring our thousand and one ideas to life. I’m slowly realizing that we’re far more efficient as a team and that together we’re capable of doing even more & better than what the two of us were pulling off during those crazy hours.
My role evolves and changes over time, I’m constantly growing and adapting in my role within the Agence Nomade, so far from ever imagining that that plane ticket from January 11, 2019 would lead me to becoming the manager of my own company. What I do, I do with passion and all my energy.
I’m going to keep trying things, making mistakes and learning a little more about myself every day. Just goes to show we all have our own adventure to live, our own path to trace. No one else can do it for you!
For our 4th year, we’re going to keep working hard for you, proud members of the Nomad Family. We’ll keep bringing our personal touches, the little bit of magic we offer the Nomads out in the regions, no matter how many of you there are, no matter the time of year.
We’re bubbling over with ideas for you. It’s quite a challenge to bring you all together given that you’re scattered across the 4 corners of the province, but we won’t let go of the rope for you all the same!
Out of sight, close to the heart, as they say!
Leaving far from home, far from your bearings, is very demanding on every level for you, and we know it. It’s unsettling, but oh so enriching. Often, your experiences are incredible, you’re living your best life and making everyone around you jealous. Other times, you hit a wall, without warning, without any early sign, it’s not quite what you had planned when you hit the road for this beautiful adventure. In any case, know that nothing happens for nothing, that there will always be something positive to take away from a good or a not-so-good experience.
Also know that we’ll always be there to support you through your ups and downs out in the region.
